Melatonin & 5HTP for insomnia and thought-racing
Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced by the brain in humans. It controls circadian rhythms of sleep and wakefulness. Nighttime darkness causes increased production of melatonin, promoting sleep. Studies indicate it may improve sleep quality in some patients, and help with jet-lag. When used at the same time as specific chemotherapy drugs, melatonin may increase survival time. Time release is important, as you want to stay asleep. The 5HTP ( 5Hydroxytryptophan) help to prevent thought racing. This has been my favorite blend and the most effective with anxious patients and caregivers.
